Hydroelectric production equipment is largely made up of joint welded parts. Each welding process requires a high level of skill to ensure that the installations function properly and safely.

The mission of the expertise centre located in Sion is to provide support and technical monitoring during all phases of projects, from design to manufacture, right through to installation monitoring.

Methodology

  • control and inspection of equipment in accordance with the appropriate international standards relating to the various control methods (ISO 17636, ISO 17637, ISO 17638, ISO 17640, ISO 3452-1) as well as the various acceptance standards (EN ISO 5817, EN10228-1, -2, CCH70-4, ISO 23277, ISO 23278, ISO 11666, EN 10675-1) or any other standards imposed by the customer
  • analysis of fitness for service in accordance with API.579 or BS.7910
  • research and design in accordance with EN.13445, Eurocode 3 EN.1993-1, Directive 2014/29/EU, Directive.95/16/EC, EN.13155
  • fabrication in accordance with ISO 3834-2 or EN 15085: class 1

Specific skills

Our experts can :

  • provide technical support and/or training in the sectors of welding metallurgy, design, industrialisation and production of joint welded parts and lifting devices
  • performing or validating the WPS, welding specifications, product ranges as well as procedures or files relating to the production of joint welded parts
  • validate the design and dimensions of the welds
  • of joint welded parts and of lifting devices
  • supervise welding operations on location or on site
  • supervise the production of joint welded parts in the workshop
  • inspect joint welded parts during production or in service
  • calculate the cracks propagation in joint welded parts and perform an analysis of associated risks
  • carry out and/or oversee continuous improvement, cost reduction or welding automation projects
