The keys to success: anticipate and coordinate
Tasked with the job of cleaning up the injectors, our Central Workshops in Martigny carried out the work in record time given the current supply problems.
Numerous different jobs were carried out simultaneously within the context of the major overhaul of the turbine in unit no. 3 at the Veytaux plant (FMHL, Forces Motrices Hongrin-Léman SA) in order to minimise its downtime as much as possible:
- Overhaul of the turbine bearing
- Overhaul of the turbine auxiliaries
- Purchase and installation of a new turbine shaft and two new Pelton turbine wheels
- Overhaul of breeching pipes, elbows & dismantling pipes for turbine gates, injectors & deflectors
- Overhaul of the oil & water servomotors, regulator, control pumps & air-oil tank
- Dismantling of the turbine’s braking section
From machining to testing the pressure in just four days
After the non-destructive testing controls, the four injectors in the unit had to be cleaned and refurbished at our Central Workshops in Martigny: the machining, grinding, welding, chrome-plating, rectifying, changing the seals, renewing the anti-corrosion protection, reinstalling and testing the pressure were all completed in four days. Record time given the current geopolitical situation and supply issues. The keys to success? Anticipating the orders, collaborating closely with the operating engineer and our workshop’s professional approach. Final appraisal: A successful project completed to the satisfaction of our partner FMHL.
