Central workshops: a new milling centre, unique in French-speaking Switzerland
Commissioning of our new CORREA AXIA 70 milling centre in our machining workshop, to take place soon, will open up a new era for HYDRO Exploitation. This equipment is unique in French-speaking Switzerland. By adding it to our stock of machines we are increasing our versatility and our production capacity.
This machine tool enables turning and milling with an orthogonal head, with no need tomanipulate the parts. The fixed table is compatible with parts up to 7,000 mm in length while the rotary table enables rotation at 150 min-1 of parts up to 3,000 mm in diameter and 2,500 mm in height with a maximum weight of 20 t. As the total capacity of the tables is 15,000 kg/m2, the maximum weight of parts can be up to 105t.
This moving column milling machine has a “Box in Box” construction, increasing rigidity and allowing a machining speed of 40 m/min. It brings an innovative mechanical system for ram balance (milling head) and its ram guiding system, unique on the market, significantly increases machining precision.
It has not been easy to install this new machine. Structural engineering works began with the excavation and disposal of over 150m3 of soil. Massive casing and reinforcement was then installed to ensure the stability of around 390t of concrete poured in several stages. The precision required in installing the machine thus significantly exceeded normal civil engineering standards.
